How a project runs, step by step
Most homeowners feel stress when they don't know what happens next. Here's the sequence we follow on every project.
Ariel's Construction & Home Improvement is based in Flemington, New Jersey and works with homeowners across Hunterdon, Somerset and Mercer counties. Every project, from a single bathroom to a fire rebuild, follows the same six steps below, so you always know where things stand and what happens next.
First conversation
You tell us what you're thinking about, whether it's a room, a repair list or an addition. We ask enough questions to understand the goal and confirm it's work we're suited for.
Call or send the form with a short description of the property, the rooms involved and roughly when you'd like the work done. If you already have photos, sketches or a contractor's report, send those too. We'll tell you honestly if the project isn't a fit for our crew rather than take it on.
Walkthrough at the property
We stand in the space, look at existing conditions, talk through options and flag anything that could affect scope, sequence or approvals.
We look at what's behind and beneath the finished surfaces as far as we can: framing, moisture, older plaster, drainage around a patio area, deck framing and posts. This is where surprises usually show up, and it's much cheaper to find them now than mid-project.
Free written estimate
You receive an estimate for the agreed scope of work, so you know what's included before deciding anything. Estimates are free and carry no obligation.
The estimate lists the scope of work in plain language so you can see what's included and what isn't. Read it, ask questions, compare it with other bids. Nothing is scheduled and nothing is owed until you tell us to go ahead.
Planning and scheduling
Once we settle the scope, we work out sequencing, material selections and a schedule, and discuss any approvals the project may require.
We agree on start dates, the order the trades come through, material selections and lead times, and we talk through any township permits or inspections the project may require so there are no last-minute holds.
Construction
Our crew organizes the work, protects and cleans the site daily, and keeps you current on what's happening next. We discuss changes before making them.
Floors and adjacent rooms are protected, debris is cleared at the end of each day, and you get a plain update on what happened and what's next. If we hit something unexpected, we stop, show you, and agree on the change before any extra work starts.
Final walkthrough
We walk the completed work with you, handle anything that needs attention and leave the space ready for you to use.
We go room by room with you and write down anything that needs another pass, then take care of it. The job isn't finished when the crew leaves, it's finished when the list is clear and you're satisfied with the work.
